MuYi Support
MuYi is a video player for Mac that generates subtitles for local MP4 and MOV files and translates them between Chinese, English and Japanese. Recognition and translation run on your Mac.
Requirements
- macOS 26 or later, Mac with Apple silicon.
- About 2.8 GB of disk space (the translation and Japanese recognition models are included).
- The first time you use Chinese, English or Japanese recognition, macOS may download its speech resources. This needs an internet connection once.
Common questions
Playback pauses briefly. Is something wrong?
No. MuYi puts subtitles first: if the subtitles for the current position are not ready, playback waits a moment. Click “先继续播放” (Continue playing) to skip the wait, or choose “整部提前准备” to prepare the whole video first.
Some lines are marked “待核对”.
MuYi checks each line with a second speech engine. When the two disagree, or a number in the translation does not match the original, the line is marked so you can check it against the audio. Proper nouns, dates and quantities can still be wrong.
Can I use my own translation service?
Yes. In Settings you can add an OpenAI-compatible API. When enabled, subtitle text is sent to the server you choose. Your API key is stored in the macOS Keychain. It is off by default.
Which files are supported?
Local MP4 and MOV files. You can import SRT subtitles (UTF-8 or UTF-16) and export the generated subtitles.

常见问题
播放会短暂停一下，正常吗？
正常。幕译以字幕优先：当前位置的字幕还没准备好时，播放会短暂等待。可以点“先继续播放”，或者选择“整部提前准备”。
有些字幕标了“待核对”。
幕译会用另一个识别引擎复核每一句。两者有实质分歧，或者译文数字和原文对不上时，会标出来，方便你对照原声。专有名词、日期和数量仍可能出错。
能用自己的翻译服务吗？
可以。在设置里添加 OpenAI 兼容接口。启用后，字幕文本会发送到你指定的服务器；API 密钥保存在 macOS 钥匙串中。默认关闭。
